The grit classifier from Atara Equipment has a large settling area and material contact surface, leading to effective precipitation. Large and finer particles settle into the shaftless screw conveyor at the bottom of the classifying area. Settled material is transported horizontally to a vertical dewatering conveyor. The rotating action of the spiral on the material causes it to roll over on itself, releasing the attached surface liquid tension. The liquid also filters down through the product, capturing fine particles. Product can drop into a container or be transported to another area before discharge.
